Giulia

Ciao!

I am Giulia,

the life partner of Andrea for a long time.

You know what?…   I am in! I am enthusiast about this new and tasty project.

First I’d like to share with you some of my life story.

I was born in the heart of Bologna, next to Piazza Maggiore and I’ve always lived in this city.

I had a wonderful childhood with my family, I felt as if I lived in a world of wonders.

My father was an artisan and created high quality shoes and my mother was a tailor. She manufactured beautiful dresses and bride dresses. How much I loved to look at the work in progress and see the dresses developing on the needs of the clients (secretly behind a half open door)!

At home everything was hand made. As this kind of work requires a lot of time, during my summer holidays my parents preferred to send me to the grandparents in the countryside.

And there I could learn my first recipes from my grandmother. We went by bike to buy eggs from the farmer, what fresh eggs! And then in the kitchen she would put the trencher on the table and prepare the dough, la sfoglia!

I had the specific task to close the tortellini or the tortelloni. Soon after she prepared the ring-shaped cake or her incredibly tasty biscuits of which I still have the recipes.

This is how it started…

Then I became teacher of Italian language for foreigners, but I never gave up my passion for our traditional culinary culture. Now together with Andrea I’d like to transmit it to you.
